Maybe it’s good that it was delayed this way, because I had the opportunity to throw my ear on JM Lab Alcor, Wilson Audio Maxx, Sonus Faber Guarneri, or Grandnote Mach 8XL.

The VR-4s are huge, they are undoubtedly the largest loudspeakers I had in my living room at the time. A moment later they arrivedSnell A2.

First case
These loudspeakers were easily found in my 20 sq m of living room. In the audio, there is a belief that large loudspeakers in a small room = a problem with the bass.
Fun fact: I had much bigger bass problems with many monitors or Diamond 28 pylons.
A large column is a great dynamic freedom, you don’t have to twist them tightly to feel and hear everything. So we listen to less room and its acoustics, and more of a loudspeaker.
The second thing is the scene.
The scene created by the VR-4 is spectacular, unlimited, fantastically set, deep. Anyway, the very name of the model is an abbreviation of Virtual Reality … And closing Vry’s eyes made a total spectacle
It is a similar kind of experience thatWilson Maxxand Grandinote Mach 8XL. Although both speakers are a bit different. Grandinote is more direct and Wilson is dry and technical. Von Schwickert gives way to the diameter of the grandnote, but has a much greater dynamic freedom.
Third case: bass
Bass with VR-4 feel. Not necessarily listening. For example, Audiophase Flow plays more strongly with the bass. VR4 can play tenor sax so that energy goes on the floor, but at the same time it remains uncolored and natural.
The sound pressure and freedom are amazing, and at the same time the bass is colorful when you need it soft and pleasant, and when we give the drums, he can kick and give a truly hi-end experience, which today’s ‘toys’ from the shelf ~ 100 They just can’t get 000.
Fourth case: diameter
It is very good, uncolored, transparent and natural. It is not a top level of engaging and sophistication.
Nevertheless, these columns give such a scale, dynamic freedom, energy, scene that if the middle and top were at this level, you can actually end the fun.
And so, in their own way, they can be the final column, because even when putting Wilson, Alcora or Grandinota next to it, it would be difficult to indicate a clearly better column.
If I hadn’t listened to the VR-4 before, I would probably be enchanted, in the meantime … It’s hard to talk about a shock after VR-4. Snells are more focused on the midrange, but they do not offer such freedom and energy.
Summation
Von Schweickert VR-4I tried at home with, among others, Silver Night 300B audiones, quad 405-2, or a strong 100W jolida jd1000a, haiku sol i, haiku sensei 211.
They fared best with the latter two, although the Audion performed best in class – both haiku had a better balance and pampered the middle better.
Albert is playing with Haiku Audio Sensei 211, in a relatively close field on nearly 50 sq m of the attic.
Dynamics, space, freedom of play, scale, completeness are truly phenomenal. These are one of the few loudspeakers in which I had the feeling that it would be worth investing in even better electronics.
ATC SCM40, SCM50, Spendor S100, JM Lab Alcor, Mezzo Utopia, Klipsch Cornwall IV, La Scala II, Tannoy SRM15X is just with these speakers toys. Although when it comes to the color and naturalness of the SCM50 diameter with the lamp or the Alcor is higher.
If they ever appear on the market – it is worth listening to them almost regardless of the price. Although I know that these are not the most beautiful packages in the world.
