ASR Emitter – We play in German

Monster – great heat sinks, separate power supply, nearly 50 kg weight. For anyone looking for an ASR hi-end, it should be one of the first types to check. Its prices on the secondary market and relatively high availability allows even a person without an excessively thick wallet to associate with something … Damn – well, if you don’t look serious. So if Emitter has so many advantages, why has it never been on my TV cabinet for longer? I invite you to read 🙂

on ASR EmmiterAnd I hit it relatively early because somehow in the third year of my adventure, looking for an amplifier that will be relatively affordable, it will play warm and with a reserve of power.

And basically everything is correct. The 2015 model hit me, which is a slightly neutral, older one – especially those before 2000, they supposedly sounded much warmer and less dynamic. Emitter listened to, among others from Tannoy LGM, some larger floor floors Dynaudio Contour and Quadral Vulcan and Titan, the famous Electro Voice Delta, as well as my beloved Snell E3 and Audiophase Opium.

My colleague, Saint Aarset, combined the great 4-element II Emitter II with Klipsch Forte III.

Actually, in each of these sets, Emitter gave a very good filling, weighting in the midrange, clear and resolving top, a good stage.

It never impressed me with the bass, although it was objectively good, but at times a bit too massive and rounded. It was very good for him to listen to his friend Myszor with Quadrals and he also fared well with deltas.

I also got a really high-class sound with my Audiophase Opium monitors at the time – great midrange, very relaxing, pleasant, full, mature one would like to say. Unfortunately, only on the number, because with my vinyl at that time it was so boring and sticky that it was impossible to digest it.

Another disastrous set was the combination of it with Snell E3 – oh shit, I never thought that an amplifier that plays so well and such outstanding loudspeakers can sing so terribly together.

It’s dark, nondescript, without openness, life (and snell is life, colors, colors, textures!) Something terrible. Imagine my surprise when I saw that someone on Oelix had such a set connected with him and played it. I feel sorry for you 🙂

The Forte III set also deserves mention – it was surprisingly good, although I liked these loudspeakers more in the first edition, in which I heard them – with a shared Copland hybrid – it was much faster, more dynamic, with a better punch. And Forte III were also great with Haiku Sensei 300B – although in more complex music and harder playing, stronger pieces simply did better.

How do I really remember Emitter?

Just like the Kenwood KD-990 – a very, very good amplifier, offering great sound in many respects. However, whenever I did not listen to him at home or at my friends I had a feeling of some such heaviness, limitation. Lack of life, lack of insight into the recording. The whole thing usually played hard in the foreground, the colors were fleshy, but somehow pale, without life, emotions. He dealt with rock music or more clearly realized, but I would never love such an amplifier and put it at home for more than a few weeks. Shit – actually, it was usually hard for me to stay with him all day.

There was always a lot of cool hoarseness in men’s vocals, the dynamics was good, the momentum was great.

Many, many good qualities, but not much of the emotion that I am looking for in music.

On the jazz / vocal repertoire, especially when there were female vocals, some smyki were coming in … It was so-so and I would have chosen many other, cheaper amplifiers that gave me a lot more fun. For example Haiku Sol I or Sol II or Spec RSA-717, Lavardin IS when it comes to transistors.

Of course, everything, as always, depends on the system, preferences, genres listened to, the size of the room – I will repeat it here like a mantra, because the above-mentioned blocks will not be able to cope with more difficult columns, nor will they properly fill larger rooms … but in the living room of the average Kowalski, with a bit less demanding speakers for more romantic listening will be much more suitable.
